Friday, January 6, 2012 at 11:52AM I warned you, didn’t I?? I said it was going to happen. But NOOOO you didn’t believe me. You never listen to me. We are going to have to talk. We put more tickets on sale than ever before in the long, storied history of this event. And it is SOLD OUT again! No more tickets available at the Club and no more reservations being accepted. What to do?? Well luckily for you oh skeptical one, several band members snagged a few extra tickets before they were gone, as they didn’t want to disappoint their groupies. There are a very LIMITED number of tickets left. FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED…..unless of course you make me an offer I cannot refuse.
We are selling commemorative event t-shirts with the money going to Toys For Tots. If you want to pre order the T Shirts they will be $20 with the proceeds to the charity. Contact Don MacKinnon directly at dmac@busys.ca
He needs the orders and money in by the 15th of January to get them done in time. The shirts will be black with colored fronts and backs. Front will be either blue or pink ( men and women) and backs will be in white ink.
There will be a silent auction set up at the club with lots of good items to bid on that night.
There will be a 50/50 draw and a raffle of donated prizes as well...tickets will be sold by the arms length at the event.
There will be toys for tots shooters as well with money being donated on each one sold.

Two new gigs!!!!!!
Sunday, December 4, 2011 at 11:48AM Not much Route 49 news lately. I know this has been upsetting to some of you, but that’s rock and roll. We make scads of money and then drop out of sight for a while until we blow it all. Well the money is gone and we are forced to go back to work.
We have a gig coming up soon, on Friday, December 9 at the eZone Tap & Grill. Yes, this is the same place you take your kids to for those wild birthday parties. But did you know there is also a playground for big kids?? The bar / restaurant part of this complex is actually a great venue for live music AND the food is excellent! So come for the food and get Route 49 for free. Come join us for some Christmas cheer a week from this Friday. There will also be a fundraising silent auction with lots of great items - so something for everyone. We hope to see you there!

Every year this event sells out and every year I warn people to get their tickets early and every year people ask me for tickets at the last minute and every year I have to disappoint someone and every year I hate doing that. No one has heard a peep from Route 49 for a long, long time. People were starting to ask questions. Few answers were provided. Until a local woman decided to unravel the mystery. And it yielded results………ROUTE 49 IS BACK BABY!! We wouldn’t go back on the road for just anyone. But for Cathy O’Toole, we would walk Route 49 – forget the bus. Cathy has organized a road hockey team for the Team Up To Conquer Cancer fundraiser on October 1. She and her teammates Shelly Lefebvre, Phil Schlatter, Tony Sokic,Peter Carrescia, Dougal Smith and Frank Agapito will be entering the marathon road hockey tournament to raise funds in the battle against cancer. I HATE cancer. It has affected way too many people in my life and I will do whatever I can to stomp it to death.
Please come out and support Cathy and her team on Friday, September 23 at the Sky Lounge (see info below). There will be a Silent Auction with Leaf Tickets; a signed jersey from Leaf James Reimer; skin care products from Arbonne (pricey stuff!); gift certs to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse; Odyssey Golf Putter; and other stuff... as well as other donation opportunities. And there will be the music of Route 49! Now what more could you ask for? Everyone is back to school and winding down their summer, so time for a night out.

Far from the perceived life of rock stars, we have all been tied up with the usual summer family commitments and the band has been “lying low”. It took my friend Bryan Green to intervene and bring the patient back to life. Bryan, a fellow Markland Wood resident and all around great guy, through his company Plain & Simple, is sponsoring a charity golf tournament – see all the details below. This is going to be quite the event. Bryan was gracious enough to ask Route 49 to play a set at the after party. Bryan’s band EZ Street will close the night with a blistering set, and some special guests, including John Derringer from Q107 sitting in on drums!
The contact information for anyone interested in buying a foursome for the golf tournament is listed below, although there are only two (2) foursomes left at the time of writing this email. The good news is that I have a very limited number of tickets (30) to the after party. You cannot beat this deal! $30.00 a ticket including snacks, entertainment and…….AN OPEN BAR!! (I know my audience). No favorites here – first come, first served. If you are interested respond immediately as these will be gone quickly. Help out a good cause and get a chance to rub elbows with a few celebrities (EZ Street and Route 49 band members!!). Stay tuned for a R49 fall bar gig at an establishment near you.

Pub Success & Next Gig April 15...
Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 6:49AM The Pub Night at Markland Golf Club was a resounding success!! What an excellent crowd. The place was packed and people had a great time meeting friends, listening to some music and raising over $8000 for the fight against breast cancer. Thanks to everyone who attended. See you again next January!
It is time for Route 49 to return to our roots in a seedy drinking establishment. Just kidding – well those are our roots - but Hollywood On The Queensway (LINK) is not seedy. It is a fantastic live music venue with a stage, lights and sound built in and lots of seating with a view. This will be our first public gig in a long time so come on out and join in the fun. Get a group together and plan a night out on the town. We will be at The Hollywood on Friday, April 15. There is a $5.00 cover after 8 pm, and we will be doing 4 sets, starting at 9 pm (for our older fans) and going to the wee hours of the morning for our younger groupies, and those of you older ones who can still party like it is 1984.
